For those that are running Windows Vista, Microsoft announced earlier this week that Windows Vista Service Pack 1 is now RTM (release-to-manufacturer). This basically means that Windows Vista Service Pack 1 is now finished and ready to be shipped out to manufacturers. This is big news for Vista users, since SP1 is supposed to fix a lot of performance and reliability issues with Windows Vista.

You can see the list of changes here: http://www.istartedsomething.com/20071208/vista-sp1-changelog/

Although Vista SP1 is done and finalized, it appears that Microsoft is delaying the distribution of Vista SP1 to consumers to March, to allow time for a few computer hardware companies (that are having some issues with their hardware with SP1) to release drivers that are compatible with SP1.

Even though Microsoft's postponed the distribution of SP1, some people have been able to get a hold of Vista SP1. If you want to download it, you can do so here:

sooo... it's ready to be released, but they're not going to yet. And if you want it anyway, you can go ahead and get it? ROFL! I love it when stuff like that happens. Does anyone else find that uproariously funny, or is it just me?

I think Microsoft's trying to be careful with the release of SP1, since they don't want to add to the "bash Vista" band-wagon, should there be installation issues with SP1.

I'll probably try installing this on my Vista PC later this weekend.
