Brawl online play

Post by Jaegar »

Diiiiieeeeee! Evil catch 22 >.>

Online play kills me. All my timing is thrown off by exactly the time it takes for me to miss every dodge, block, counter, and opening move unless I intentionally move before my reflexes dictate. Then there are the ignored button presses and delayed attacks >.> Please pay attention when I want to short hop and no, I didn't want to do that neutral air attack after getting sent flying to the edge of the screen, I wanted to do that before. All that attack is doing is screwing me because it delays my recovery >.>

I feel like I'm a laggy punching bag most of the game then the 20% I manage to fight properly it feels like some kind of fluke that's going to turn into a bad joke as soon a I loose momentum and start lagging again.

Does anyone else have noticeable lag in every match? Any ideas to help it? As it is my only coping mechanism is to play pikachu for a match or two and spam AoE attacks so I'll win and calm down >.> That, and avoid my favorite character because I can't land a thing T.T

Last night's matches were a lot of fun. I especially liked the one with two Peaches and ZS Samus on that plant stage. ;) Jaegar, your Pikachu's down-A move is deadly. -.-

About the lag issue, you might want to check to see if no one is downloading something big or watching streaming videos on your Internet connection. Brawl seems to be sensitive to sharing Internet bandwidth with other devices. I have also heard that the Wii LAN adapter reduces the lag issue, since the LAN connection is faster and is not prone to interference like wireless is.

Jesse - Great games tonight. Your Falco is tricky to play against.

lol XD I'm the only one in the house who uses more than 1% or our connection ever, so unfortunately I don't think that's it. I'll try turning off Bittorrent next time I play to see if the little bit of seeding I'm doing is antagonizing Brawl. If that doesn't help I may be stuck XP I don't think my parents would appreciate 50' of cable from the living room to the router.

meh, while we're complimenting each other...

You're really good at aerials Yoon. You always seem to beat me to the hit >.< Nobody else does that to me.

I keep finding people online after I get home from work... soooo something like 9-12 central time on random weekdays.

On Tuesday/Thursday from noon to 2 or so I AFK in the training room while I do other stuff around the house but nobody ever joins me.

edit: turning off BT makes a night-and-day difference. Who would've thought that Brawl cares about having our entire massive connection at it's disposal XP

Unfortunately my dodge timings are still off. Everything else feels fine but my dodges never go off when I really need them to. I might still be more used to melee than brawl though. I still haven't played any real matches in the normal brawl mode.

Also, how the heck did you do a rolling dodge out of a fire flower? It never lets me dodge out of a continuous attack.

Last night's battles were great! It was interesting, since the first four-player matches two people from Y-Corner (me and Jaeger), along with Mike (someone from Anandtech Forums), and someone from the LegacyRO forums. :D After the LRO guy dropped out, Jesse joined in.

Jesse, you've gotten alot better with Marth. :o I couldn't do to much with Pit in that 1 on 1 battle on the Final Destination board. No matter where I landed, you wouldn't let me get back onto the board. :P

I might be back online tonight again, same time. Ashwin and TomTom said they might be online tonight too.

I only get to play around 10pm-12pm central weekdays and usually 10pm-2am on weekends.

Jaeger- I had to open some ports and switch channels on my router to get my Wii's internet running. I get a lag spike every 15 games or so, but it's the same when I play COD4. I've also noticed a significant increase since you stopped your bit torrents.

I hate Yoon's air juggles, I can't get the timing down to beat him (unless I'm Marth for range advantage). Also STOP SPAMMING THOSE FREAKIN' FIREBALLS. ;D

As much as I'd love to, I seriously need to stop playing brawl till I finish my English paper T.T Video games eat time faster than anything else I do, and if I don't finish this paper I gotta retake the worst class I've ever had in my life... *thinks for a sec* Yes, it is indeed the worst class ever.

Maybe in May though...
