Corsair, a quality brand PSU and memory manufacturer, has posted a video on their website which shows several 'budget' power supply units (PSU) put under heavy power loads. Watch the 'explosive' video here:

All the budget PSUs died in that video. They didn't even make it even close to their 'rated' wattage. :o Given that exploding PSUs have been known to take out other computer parts, as well as cause PCs to catch on fire in rare circumstances, this is exactly why you should spend that extra cash on a quality PSU than trusting your PC's life on a cheap, ~$10 PSU.
